About The Purple House Project

Welcome!

The Purple House Project is a deeply personal journey of recovery, resilience, and reinvention. It began as a creative response to life-altering challenges — including cancer and complex post-traumatic stress disorder — and has evolved into a living embodiment of healing, self-determination, and personal identity.

At its core is the story of one year spent traveling the country, solo, while building a tiny purple house on wheels. What started as the princess playhouse of unrealized childhood dreams became something far more substantial. Originally conceived to highlight the crisis of childhood poverty and homelessness in America, the project transformed into both a symbolic and physical space representing freedom, adaptability, and the ongoing pursuit of purpose that lies at the heart of the American experience.

This website chronicles that journey across the United States while constructing The Purple Princess Palace — a structure that served as both a shelter from the elements and a sanctuary from internal storms.

Now living full-time and off-grid in the tiny home, I document the realities of living with a traumatic brain injury and c-ptsd, and the challenge of creating a life of meaning from the remnants of memory.

Beyond personal narrative, The Purple House Project is intended as an open platform for connection, community, and creative inquiry. Through autobiographical writing, visual documentation, and introspective analysis, the site invites readers into a holistic understanding of what it takes to rebuild a life after trauma. It emphasizes self-expression, resilience, and the courage required to pursue unconventional paths toward well-being.

This site is:

  • Treatment documentation
  • Lived-experience record
  • Story grounded in reality

This site is not:

  • Fiction
  • Therapy or clinical advice
  • Entertainment (even when the storytelling is compelling)

Ultimately, The Purple House Project is more than a blog. It is a record of survival, adaptation, and the belief that it is never too late to build a spiritual home — and consciously furnish it with purpose.
